Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy isn't too concerned with being in the public eye after being fired by the team last week.

McCarthy was let go following the Packers' Week 13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which dropped Green Bay to 4-7-1 on the season and likely put its playoff hopes out of reach for a second straight season.

But with McCarthy's name already being mentioned as a potential candidate for other likely coaching vacancies, there are plenty of unknowns as to when he'll return to the sidelines.

However, he's in no hurry to make that decision, according to ESPN's Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky.

From Demovsky:

He told ESPN.com that he planned to “lay low and try to finish this professional chapter on the high road,” and a source close to McCarthy said he was pondering whether to pursue a head-coaching job this offseason or take the year off and remain in Green Bay, where his family has deep roots.

McCarthy returned to the Packers' facility this week to meet with the coaching staff and former players, with the latter giving him a standing ovation after he met with them on Wednesday.

Given that he helped lead the Packers to nine playoff appearances during his time in Green Bay, it seems that plenty of teams could do a lot worse than McCarthy.

As for the Packers, there is also uncertainty when it comes to what their next move will be in trying to find McCarthy's replacement.
