The Green Bay Packers suffered a disappointing 27-24 loss on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks that took a significant hit to their playoff chances.
The team has suffered another major blow with Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham suffering a broken thumb in the contest that will more than likely force him to miss time on the field, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
#Packers TE Jimmy Graham did suffer a broken thumb last night, sources say, and the team is trying to determine how much time he'll miss. Meanwhile, we also discuss coach Mike McCarthy's job status. pic.twitter.com/HDiV8dHN2Q

Graham had suffered the injury when he was attempting to make a block that forced him out of the game and to be examined by the team. This is a potentially huge loss for the Packers as he is one of the primary pieces of the puzzle offensively in the passing game. Graham has made 34 catches on 56 targets for 452 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, but his production has tailed off in the last few weeks as he has recorded fewer than 30 receiving yards three times in the last four games played.
Granted the last of those such performances came after he suffered an injury, it does speak to his role not being what was initially hoped when the Packers brought him aboard. He has surpassed 100 receiving yards just once while tallying more at least four catches five times this season. His absence created a large v0id to fill for the Packers as it should see a larger dependency on Pro Bowl wide receiver DaVante Adams along with the other wide receivers in Marquez Valdes-Scantling along with Geronimo Allison and Randall Cobb when he returns from injury.
The Packers are in a tough spot sitting at 4-5-1 heading into the final six games that may require them to essentially win out to even have a chance to secure a playoff spot. This may see the team have to go this without the services of Graham for the next couple of weeks.
