Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love spent the entirety of his rookie campaign on the sidelines with Aaron Rodgers playing at an MVP level throughout the 2020 NFL season. After assessing his first year in the league, Love bared that there are things that are out of his control despite his desire to compete on the field.
“The situation I'm in, they brought me in to learn as much as I can, and that's really all I can do,” he said via CBS Sports. “I don't make those calls; they do. Obviously, (like) anybody, you wanna be out there competing. The way I look at it, if I'm not ready to be out there, then I have to keep working. I mean, I definitely grew a lot during the season. It's a lot when you first get there, your head's kinda spinning, but once you get your feet into it and get through the season, your confidence gains.”
Jodan Love was selected by the Packers with the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to serve as the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers who was thought to be on the decline. However, the two-time NFL MVP proved he still has a lot left in the tank after he emerged as a frontrunner for this year's top individual honor.
Moreover, the Packers were also seen as the favorites to come out of the NFC due to their solid play in the regular season. Head coach Matt LaFleur and his squad ended with a 13-3 record along with the NFC North divisional title.
They also snagged wins against the Los Angeles Rams after securing a first-round bye in the postseason. However, they fell short against the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by another prolific QB in Tom Brady.
Aaron Rodgers definitely showed that he still has some years left in his career, which will also mean that Jordan Love won't get to see action anytime soon. The entire quarterback situation for the Packers is still up in the air but Jordan Love remains optimistic that he will get a chance to show his capabilities on the field sooner than later.
