The Green Bay Packers have had a tumultuous offseason, but Josh Jones thinks the team is ready to move on. An explosive article detailing the decaying relationship between Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy sent shockwaves through the organization, and the team is looking forward to getting back to football.

Jones, Green Bay's second-round pick in 2017, skipped OTAs and was reportedly unhappy with what the coaches were asking him to do, but he's putting the past behind him.

“Listen, we put the (offseason stuff) in the past. That’s in the rearview,” Jones said Tuesday, via Zach Kruse of the Packers Wire. “It’s July 30. I’m living in the present. And the present is helping this team, going out there and competing. Helping the Packers get to where we want to be, like I’ve said since I got here.”

Jones is so committed to the idea of a fresh start that he even changed numbers, from 27 to 24.

“New everything this year,” Jones said.

Jones is being used at safety, his normal position, as well as at linebacker in some packages.

There were reports this offseason that the team was trying to get rid of him, either by cutting him or trading him, but as of right now it looks like he'll be on the roster in 2019.

For what it's worth, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst spoke highly of him recently.

“I think Josh has had a really good beginning of camp,” Gutekunst said before Tuesday’s practice. “In the four days, he’s shown up and made some plays. Obviously, the physical gifts are all there. He’s getting a lot of opportunity. There’s some really positive signs that he could really help our football team. We got a long way to go, there’s a lot of competition on the back end right now, but it’s been really positive seeing him do what he’s doing.”

Jones has started 12 games through two seasons, but has mostly been a disappointment. This is going to be a make-or-break year for him.
