The Green Bay Packers are coming off yet another massively disappointing season. However, questions surrounding their quarterback situation and the future of Aaron Rodgers was answered after he won his second straight NFL MVP Award. The Packers signed Rodgers to a three-year deal worth $150 million. That made him the highest paid player in the league. It appeared to put to rest any talk of him leaving the franchise or retiring, or so we thought.
Packers CEO Mark Murphy recently was discussing the future of Rodgers and his backup Jordan Love. He was asked if the team had plans on retaining quarterback Jordan Love in case Rodgers decided to hang it up. Murphy had some very interesting comments.
I asked Mark Murphy about keeping Jordan Love in case Rodgers retires at some point in the next few seasons.
His response:
"Aaron is still playing at a high level & he said he wants to keep playing, but I think it's probably a year by year thing now" https://t.co/CG701foZOF

“Aaron is still playing at a high level & he said he wants to keep playing, but I think it's probably a year by year thing now,” said Murphy. He went on to say that he thought Love could be a good player and that this preseason will be good for him.

It might be difficult after Rodgers signed such a massive deal. The Packers were unable to retain much of their defensive talent this offseason. Then the NFL world was shaken up when the Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. Fellow wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling also left the team in free agency.
