Many Green Bay Packers fans attributed their loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round to one aspect: their special teams. It likely came as a relief to many of these fans when rumors of their special teams coordinator Maurice Dayton being fired floated around. Now, the organization has confirmed these rumors.
Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Packers, confirmed that they have let go of Dayton, and had a few nice words to say about their former special teams coordinator. (via ProFootballTalk)

The Packers' special teams have been a cause of concern for a rather long time already. They have routinely ranked in the bottom of the league for a long time. Against the 49ers, though, Green Bay's special teams cost them in a huge way.
A blocked field goal attempt from ace kicker Mason Crosby was the harbinger of things to come. Afterwards, Corey Bojorquez's punt in the second half was blocked and immediately returned for a touchdown. Finally, after a timeout, the Packers inexplicably fielded only 10 men for the 49ers' game-winning field goal attempt.
With rumors of the Packers going for Raiders special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, it's no wonder they let go of Dayton. They will pay a premium for Bisaccia, but it will be worth it as it would hopefully convince Aaron Rodgers to stay in Green Bay.
