The Green Bay Packers appear to have a high ceiling this year, and the same can be said for their emerging tight end. And on defense, another soaring player is Micah Parsons, who got an award that will leave Cowboys owner Jerry Jones keeling over in pain.

Parsons grabbed the NFC defensive player of the month award, according to a post on X by Matt Schneidman.

It brought three words from head coach Matt LaFleur, according to another Schneidman post.

“He’s been outstanding.” — Matt LaFleur on Micah Parsons, October’s NFC Defensive Player of the Month”

Leading the Packers to a 3-0 record in October, Parsons recorded nine tackles, five for loss, four sacks, and six quarterback hits. Parsons, who came to the Packers from the Cowboys in a preseason trade, racked up three of those sacks in a tight win over the Cardinals.

NFL Next Gen Stats credited Parsons with a career-high 11 pressures in the win over the Cardinals, the most by a Packers player since NGS began tracking pressures in 2016, according to Packers.com.

LaFleur said the whole defense has been doing well, according to Packers.com.

“All those guys are kind of feeding off one another,” LaFleur said. “Certainly, he gets a lot of attention in regards to protections. And a lot of times, he's defeating a chip. Then, they might even slide to him, which opens up opportunities for everybody else.

“I do think (defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley) Haf's done a really good job and D.C. (defensive line coach DeMarcus Covington) of trying to get creative in terms of you've seen him rush inside, outside. It does put a little bit of stress on the offense in regards to you're not quite sure where he's going to line.”

The Packers carry an NFC-best record of 5-1-1.  Also, they should be a strong favorite in three of their next four games. They face the Panthers this week, followed by the Eagles, Giants, and Vikings.
