Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been rumored to be seeking a massive salary increase that will make him the highest-paid QB in the NFL. With his future in doubt, it sparked talks that Green Bay might have to shell out a lot of money to keep him.
Contrary to those reports, however, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network claimed that it's not really about the money for Rodgers. While he did not elaborate on the other possible reasons delaying the decision of the reigning MVP when it comes to his future, he seemed certain salary is not one of them.
“Aaron Rodgers could have taken the money last year and he took no new dollars. I do not believe that it is about the money for him,” Rapoport said in the Pat McAfee Show. “He’s going to get more money, but I don’t think it’s about the money.”
Ian Rapoport is hardly alone in his sentiment. Recently, former Packers vice president Andrew Brandt echoed the same thing, highlighting that the rumor doesn't make sense since Green Bay has shown the willingness to pay Aaron Rodgers top dollar to keep him.
Not to mention that the Packers have repeatedly said they want Rodgers back after another MVP season despite ending it in another playoffs exit.

It's hard to determine what's really going on behind the scenes for Rodgers, and the latest rumors certainly don't help. He did say he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild, so that might be a consideration for him.
Regardless, the Rodgers drama should end in the next few weeks, during which Rodgers is said to make his decision with regards to his future with the Packers.
