The Jacksonville Jaguars have been a struggling franchise for some time now, having endured five straight losing seasons. The Jaguars' experiment with Urban Meyer failed miserably, though the team will at least get to choose among any of the prospects they desire in the NFL Draft, as Jacksonville currently holds the number-one overall pick. Not only that, but the Jaguars are armed with cap space heading into the 2022 NFL offseason. With the newly hired Doug Pederson in place and Trevor Lawrence seemingly the quarterback of the future, things might just be looking up in Jacksonville. However, there is still work that needs to be done in the offseason. The Jaguars need help on both sides of the ball in the trenches and could also do with an upgrade at the tight end position. Lawrence struggled mightily during his rookie year, but he needs more talent around him than he had. That, along with improving the defense, needs to be the Jaguars' top priority this offseason. That said, here are four bold predictions for the Jaguars during the 2022 NFL offseason.

Jaguars Offseason Predictions

4. The Jaguars cut Myles Jack

This would, admittedly, be a tough decision for the Jaguars to make, especially considering that Myles Jack is a former second-round pick. However, sometimes, teams need to make tough decisions to move forward- and this is one of those instances. Jack is a fine tackler and speedy linebacker. However, he was graded very poorly by PFF last year and has struggled to find a true fit at inside or outside linebacker during his time in the NFL. By cutting Jack, the Jaguars can save over $8 million, per Pro Football Network. It hurts to lose a player like Jack, but it could allow the Jaguars to spend big this offseason to build the best team possible around Lawrence.

3. The Jaguars sign Mike Gesicki

The Jaguars desperately need some playmakers around Trevor Lawrence. Mike Gesicki isn't the best blocker but his receiving abilities are excellent, as he has often lined up as a wide receiver instead of at tight end. That could prove to be very valuable for a Jaguars team looking to build their passing game around Lawrence. Gesicki has racked up back-to-back 700-yard seasons and is only 26 years old. The Jaguars need to sign the young tight end to give Lawrence a legitimate threat over the middle of the field.

2. The Jaguars sign Akiem Hicks

The Jaguars' run defense was abysmal last year, ranking 24th against the ground game. Akiem Hicks just so happens to be one of the better run-stuffers in the league and just so happens to be available as a free agent. Hicks has graded as one of the better interior defensive linemen in the league over the past few years and led the league in run stops in years past. Hicks would be a significant upgrade over DaVon Hamilton, and would immediately help Jacksonville field a better run defense and pass rush.

1. The Jaguars draft Evan Neal

The Jaguars have an opportunity to select their franchise left tackle of the future in Evan Neal, who is widely regarded as the obvious choice with the first pick. Jacksonville could certainly be bold and go all-in on the defensive line by drafting Aidan Hutchinson, However, Neal, who is 6-foot-7 and 350 pounds, is a massive human being who simply didn't allow many pass rushers to get by him at Alabama. If the Jaguars are looking to protect Trevor Lawrence, they should look no further than Neal.
