The Jacksonville Jaguars have suffered through an embarrassing 2018 NFL season after being hyped up as Super Bowl contenders all offseason long. Now, the team is making some major changes. First, they decided to fire their offensive coordinator and now they are benching Blake Bortles and will start Cody Kessler at quarterback.

According to a report from Phillip Heilman of Jax.com, the Jaguars will start Kessler under center instead of Bortles in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Not many fans in Jacksonville are going to be surprised or disappointed by this move. Bortles has been bad this season and has worn out his welcome. Unfortunately, the Jaguars decided to give him a contract extension last offseason, which could end up haunting them long-term.

Kessler will get the start against a red-hot Colts' team that is making a playoff push. Indianapolis will head into this week's game with a 6-5 record, while the Jaguars are currently 3-8 on the season.

In the one game that he did play this season for the Jaguars, Kessler completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts for 156 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

Bortles, on the other hand, has completed 60.4 percent of his passes this season for 2,572 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. There is no telling if this is the end of the road for Bortles in Jacksonville or not, but it could very well be the beginning of the end.

All of that being said, make sure to tune in this week to see Kessler get the start against the Colts. He has shown flashes of big talent and could be auditioning for more starts this season and possibly even next year if he plays well.
