After missing all of last season with an ACL injury, there are still questions about when Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee will return to the field. Earlier this off-season Doug Maronne said the expectation was that he would be back to full speed by the end of the preseason.
Jaguars wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell offered a new update on Tuesday, and it doesn't seem like much has changed. McCardell said the expectation is that it will be a few weeks into training camp before he is back on the field with the rest of the team.
“He’s probably a couple weeks into training camp before he’ll be back,” McCardell said via Pro Football Talk.
It's unclear how much training he will be able to do up to that point, but if that is the first time he is back on the field going through full workouts that is going to put the first week of the season in some doubt.
Article Continues BelowThe Jaguars have Chris Conley, Dede Westbrook, D.J. Chark, Keelan Cole, and Terrelle Pryor who just signed with the team. It's a solid wide receiver room, but the Jaguars really missed Lee's production on the field last year.
In 2017 he hauled in 56 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns and was set to be the number one guy before tearing his ACL during the third preseason game.
The faster that Lee gets back on the field, the faster he can get on the same page with new quarterback Nick Foles and the better the Jaguars will be.
