Jacksonville Jaguars team owner Shad Khan recently bared that he will continue to have roster control moving forward, just as he did back in the recently-concluded 2020 season, per ESPN‘s Michael DiRocco. His active role in managing the team's roster won't change even with the arrival of a new general manager in the near future.

The Jaguars previously parted ways with general manager David Caldwell after eight seasons with the team. His tenure ended after the team's Week 12 loss against the Cleveland Browns back in November and ultimately finished with a 39-87 overall record. Following his exit, Jaguars director of player personnel Trent Baalke was eventually elevated to be the interim general manager of the team for the time being.

After finishing with a 1-15 campaign in the 2020 season, Khan also fired head coach Doug Marrone after spending five years in Jacksonville. Longtime amateur head coach Urban Meyer has already emerged as the leading candidate to fill in the spot in the near future.

Despite their ugly record, the Jaguars were able to snag the top overall pick for the 2021 NFL Draft which will most likely be used to select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Despite having a struggling season, the Jaguars found bright spots with the emergence of rookie wide receiver Laviska Shenault who finished with 600 receiving yards on 58 catches and five touchdowns for the team.

Undrafted rookie running back James Robinson also showcased his capabilities after landing a spot in the team and eventually emerging as a contributor for the Jaguars. He finished his rookie campaign with 344 yards on 49 touches and three rushing touchdowns.

Although his numbers dipped from his Pro Bowl last season, wide receiver D.J. Chark continues to deal damage for the Jaguars as he eases into a bigger role moving forward.

Despite having a woeful 2020 season, Shad Khan and the rest of the Jaguars can still hope for better days especially with the significant assets and the potential of the young guys that they currently have at the helm.
