After a disastrous season under Urban Meyer, the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to turn around their futures with a new coach. They made a huge splash in the offseason by signing former Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson to the team. They are hoping Pederson's quarterback magic will reinvigorate their franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

On Sunday, the Jaguars quarterback spoke at length for the first time about his new coach. Trevor Lawrence had high praise for Doug Pederson after their first conversation, saying he's excited to work with a coach who's also a former quarterback.

“Obviously I talked to him briefly on the phone, I guess that was Thursday night, and then today, first time meeting him in person. Just seems like a really great guy, obviously he’s had a lot of success; his resume kind of speaks for itself. He’s an offensive guy, he played quarterback in the NFL.”

The Jaguars quarterback said that the whole team was simply relieved that they were able to get their guy in Pederson.

“All those things make me really excited and something that I’m excited to get to work with him and see what he brings to the table. So I think everybody’s excited, everybody’s really relieved. We got our guy and to be able to move forward and just go to work now is a good feeling.”

After the mess that was Urban Meyer's tenure in Jacksonville, any coach would've been an upgrade. Pederson is the best coach the Jaguars could've gotten, especially given his history with quarterbacks before. If all goes well, we might see Lawrence's full potential bloom and prove why he was rightfully the first overall pick.
