Nick Foles and the Jacksonville Jaguars agreeing to a deal makes a lot of sense, but it appears the reports that things are basically a done deal are a bit “premature.” There is interest on both sides, but according to Mike Jones of USA TODAY Sports, other teams have interest and the two sides haven't been in contact about a contract just yet:

Speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the talks, a person told USA TODAY Sports that Jacksonville does indeed have strong interest in Foles. However, a handful of other teams also have inquired about the quarterback’s services.

The Jaguars and Foles’ camp haven’t yet engaged in contract discussions, and neither has any other potential suitor.

Multiple outlets reported during the weekend that Foles will soon sign with Jacksonville. However, while speaking to USA TODAY Sports, the person called such reports premature.

The Jaguars seem to still be the front-runner for Foles' services, but the quarterback is expected to at least listen to offers from other teams.

Jacksonville still has Blake Bortles under contract, but if the team signs Foles or any other starting-caliber quarterback, it is expected that Bortles will be released.

The Jaguars are a team built on defense, and too many times the last few years it has been the offense that has held the team back.

If Jacksonville can get the defense back to tip-top form and Foles is signed, this would be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
