The Oakland Raiders big offseason addition was Antonio Brown but it appears that fans will have to wait until the regular season to see him on an NFL field.
Brown is a veteran and knows all about life in the NFL but this still seems a bit surprising because playing him would give Derek Carr and Brown time to create some more chemistry during game action.
Gruden said he is not planning to play Antonio Brown at all in the preseason https://t.co/hnLr7F70eD

On the other hand, it makes a lot of sense because it gives Gruden time to look at other receivers and give them more opportunities to impress and make the roster. One of those guys could be UC Davis wide receiver, Keelan Doss who many projected as a fourth-round wide receiver, but he ended up going undrafted.
Gruden told Doss in a phone call after signing him that he thinks he has a great chance to make the roster.
“You know our offense,” Gruden told Doss via the Athletic. “You know what we’re all about. You fit this system. I’m just telling you, I think you have a good opportunity to make this team.”
Gruden also thinks that Doss can play all three wide receivers, which would make him versatile in the Raiders offense.
“You’re smart, you’re big, you’re tough and you can run a lot of routes,” Gruden told Doss.
Doss is going to need every chance he can get in training camp and the preseason and maybe Gruden deciding to sit Brown will be just what he needs to make the 53 man roster.
