The iron is hot for the Las Vegas Raiders. They secured a Wild Card berth after a very turbulent season with a rejuvenated, talented cast of players.
With new general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels, they'll look to strike in the 2022 season. Although the team has weaknesses that need to be addressed in the long term, both new authority figures in Las Vegas want to return to the postseason and keep competing.
The Raiders are looking to ride with Derek Carr and build upon the team that's already in place. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Journal-Review, McDaniels isn't fond of rebuilding, anyway.
“I don’t think in today’s NFL there’s really any time to do rebuilding anyway,” McDaniels said. “This certainly isn’t that type of situation for us.”
The Raiders have lots of key pieces in place. Carr has the talent and leadership to be their quarterback but they will have to solidify their offensive line and find a replacement for Henry Ruggs III. They are working on a contract extension with him to keep him around for the near future. Maxx Crosby is a superstar on defense and the front office will have to get him a stronger supporting cast.
The AFC West could be a bloodbath next season. The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are ready to compete. and the Denver Broncos are not too far behind. McDaniels is looking to lead the Raiders to the top of the division and establish the team as a true winner.
