The Las Vegas Raiders are going to be faced with a few tough decisions in the 2020 NFL Draft. With two first-round picks, the possibilities are endless on what the Raiders could choose to do.
First and foremost, it almost seems like an inevitability that Las Vegas wants to add a play-maker on offense with the No. 12 pick. As a result, that could mean that the Raiders have their sights set on CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, or Henry Ruggs.
On the other hand, the Raiders could have a few directions they can go with the No. 19 pick. Throughout free agency, Las Vegas addressed the defensive side of the ball. To bolster their front seven, the Raiders signed Cory Littleton, Nick Kwiatkoski, Maliek Collins, and Carl Nassib.
In addition, they added Damarious Randall and Jeff Heath to improve the backend of their secondary. Taking all of that into consideration, Las Vegas is in a prime spot to select a cornerback at No. 19.
If the Raiders are adamant about drafting a cornerback, they should have a few options to pick from. One of those options is Kristian Fulton out of LSU. With that in mind, should the Raiders select Fulton in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft?
Reasons why Fulton makes sense for the Raiders
Article Continues BelowAfter being an active team in free agency, Las Vegas currently deploys a cornerback group that features Trayvon Mullen, Nevin Lawson, and Lamarcus Joyner. Mullen figures to be primarily on the outside and Joyner should be slotted in at the nickel position.
While Mullen flashed upside as a rookie in 2019, the Raiders could use another cornerback on the opposite side of the field. Of course, Las Vegas would love to have a chance to get Jeffrey Okudah or C.J. Henderson.
But with Okudah projected in the top five picks, unless the Raiders use their No. 12 pick on Henderson, they aren't getting either of them. That leaves Fulton as a fantastic option for Las Vegas with the 19th overall pick.
Fulton finished his collegiate career at LSU on a high note, recording 38 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and an interception in 2019. Just by looking at last year's draft, Mike Mayock — the GM of the Raiders — is infatuated with taking prospects from the most notable colleges.
As an illustration, five of the Raiders' first six picks in the 2019 NFL Draft came from Alabama, LSU, or Clemson — Mullen included. Therefore, should Las Vegas take Fulton if he's still on the board at No. 19? To provide them with another cornerback to build around, the answer is a resounding yes.
