The Los Angeles Chargers had their playoff dreams crushed on Sunday night as they lost a 36-32 overtime heartbreaker to the Las Vegas Raiders. They were so close to a tie, which would've sent them through to the postseason, and quarterback Justin Herbert revealed that he was literally praying the Raiders wouldn't convert that field goal in the extra period:

“I had never been rooting for a tie more in my life,” Herbert said via the Associated Press. “That's the unfortunate part of being so close.”

The Chargers didn't go down without a fight though as Herbert led a comeback in the fourth quarter with 15 points and a touchdown at the end of regulation. Both teams converted FG's in OT but unfortunately, the Raiders managed to get in kicking range and grab the victory.

Los Angeles struggled to stop the run once again in Week 18, with Josh Jacobs absolutely torching them. A Brandon Staley timeout late in overtime sparked controversy on social media, but ultimately, the Chargers' biggest weakness hurt them.

Despite the heartbreaking end to their season, Herbert and the Chargers have a lot to be proud of. They were literally seconds away from the postseason, but it simply wasn't their time. With the superstar quarterback leading the way, there are better days ahead for this franchise.
