It has not been a great day for AFC wide receivers in the Pro Bowl on Sunday afternoon.

First, Pittsburgh Steelers wide out JuJu Smith-Schuster exited the game with a knee contusion in the first half. In the second half, Los Angeles Chargers receiver Keenan Allen suffered the same fate, leaving the contest due to a knee contusion of his own, via John Reid of The Florida Times-Union.

Allen had racked up four catches for 95 yards—including a 50-yard pass from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes—before exiting.

On the season, Allen hauled in 97 receptions for 1,196 yards and six touchdowns, making his second straight trip to Honolulu as a result.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Chargers in the third round (76th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a spectacular rookie campaign, catching 71 passes for 1,046 yards and eight scores. He then followed that up with a decent sophomore season, snaring 77 balls for 783 yards and four touchdowns.

Injuries then began to take their toll on Allen.

In 2015, Allen was limited to just eight games due to a kidney issue. During the time that he did play, Allen registered 67 catches for 625 yards while reaching the end zone four times.

Then, in 2016, Allen tore his ACL in the Chargers' season opener.

He finally got healthy last year and it showed, as Allen caught 102 balls for 1,393 yards and six touchdowns en route to his first Pro Bowl appearance.

The Chargers won 12 games on the season and were eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs by the New England Patriots.
