The Los Angeles Chargers can call Dignity Health Sports Park home, but it doesn't feel like it.
Last week, while playing in the soccer stadium, the Bolts had to resort to a strategy used in loud away stadiums: a silent snap count. With an abundance of Minnesota Vikings fans in attendance for the Chargers' eventual loss, they had to use the tactic, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Vikings traveled well for their eventual win in Los Angeles. It was an effort that their coach Mike Zimmer was proud of.
“Just proud to be playing for a team that will travel like that,” Zimmer said postgame. “It was outstanding. I can’t say enough about how they have traveled all season long. I think back to Arrowhead and the energy they brought, but today was a tremendous asset to have them take up so much of the stands and be so vocal. Not every team travels like that so I am just proud to claim a team that does.”
The Chargers could very well have to use the silent snap count again in Week 16. They are hosting the Oakland Raiders, who carry a massive fanbase within the Los Angeles city limits. If it weren't for a losing season, Chargers fans could be laughably out-numbered.
The Bolts' struggles with fanbases taking over their home field in Los Angeles is nothing new. The City of Angels is not a city with deep ties to the Chargers. San Diego. Nonetheless, Dean Spanos and Co. made the move in 2017, which his team now feels deeply.
