The NFL has ramped up its efforts to take pro football overseas. Recent reports suggested the league had solidified that notion: The Los Angeles Chargers were looking into a relocation to London.
Team owner Dean Spanos has since vehemently denied that the Chargers plan to play anywhere else but Los Angeles for the foreseeable future. The NFL has now also offered a statement dispelling these rumors, via NFL Network's Mike Garafolo:

No consideration has been given to the Chargers playing anywhere other than Los Angeles at the new stadium in Hollywood Park next season and beyond. There have been no discussions of any kind between the NFL and the Chargers regarding moving to London. Both our office and the Chargers are entirely focused on the success of the team in Los Angeles.”
Although their statement was understandably not as expletive-laden as the one made by Spanos, the NFL was nonetheless able to get their point across. The league has no intention of sending one of its teams outside the country just yet.
There is no denying that the Chargers have become an easy target for a report like this. They have struggled to make their imprint in Los Angeles and their home games are routinely filled with fans from opposing teams. Regardless, the notion that the market is not big enough for two teams is extremely far-fetched.
The absence of football in this city for over two decades essentially forced its residents to root for other teams and reversing that process is not something that is going to happen overnight.
