Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is having a tough start to his 2019 season. He's only played two games so far and didn't get as many plays as he's looking for in order to return to form.

Fans may be frustrated with how he's played so far. However, he offers a solution that will end his poor run of form: give him more touches.

He explained his logic to Eric D. Williams for ESPN:

“There's no rhythm you can get into with eight carries, I don't care what running back you are,” Gordon said. “I get stronger down the line.

“With the more carries you get, you run that play and you're like, ‘Okay, this is how they are playing it.' So when you run that play again, I know how I'm going to treat it. But when you get eight carries, you've seen the same play for the first time every time. There's no feel to it, and you never get a feel for the game.”

It may be weird for fans to hear such reasoning from the running back, but Gordon is not speaking without basis. He's been a key component of the Chargers offense, notching 3677 rushing yards, 1614 receiving yards, and 38 touchdowns in his five years with the team.

Melvin Gordon is going to be the team's leading runner for the foreseeable future, and it's in the Chargers' best interest to give him as many touches as possible.
