The Los Angeles Chargers squared off with the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. It was a tough matchup for them. Los Angeles came into the week with a 3-5 record, while Green Bay was 7-1.
However, the Chargers won the game by a final score of 26-11.
Two of their touchdowns came off runs by superstar running back Melvin Gordon. That includes his second touchdown of the game, which gave the Chargers a commanding lead early in the fourth quarter.

This was massive for two reasons. First, the Chargers have been massively disappointing this season. A win against the Packers could be exactly what they needed to turn the season around. Now 4-5, they still aren't out of the playoff hunt.
Second, Gordon was not having a good year. Returning from a holdout at the beginning of October, Gordon hasn't looked like his normal superstar self.
Article Continues BelowThrough four games, the running back was averaging 2.5 yards per carry. That was 112 yards and just one touchdown on 44 carries. He also only had 37 more yards and one more touchdown on 11 receptions.
This game saw Gordon pick up 80 yards on 20 carries (4.0 yards per carry). It also saw him score twice. Meanwhile, he caught three passes for 29 more yards.
That's the kind of game Chargers fans are use to seeing from the running back. Gordon is an all-around talent that can put the team on his back any given week. He had yet to do that in 2019 though.
Now he has one MVP-like game under his belt. Could this be a turning point for Gordon and the Chargers? A big win against a tough opponent that saw Gordon go off. It sure sounds like the game they have been waiting for all year.
