The Los Angeles Rams have constructed a roster that appears to be on the verge of possibly breaking through in 2018 as a serious Super Bowl title contender. A sizable chunk of that has been on directed toward their promising talent on the defensive side of the ball that features several proven players in the fold.

However, the Rams lost some depth along the defensive line on Thursday after defensive end Morgan Fox suffered a torn ACL that will force him to miss the entire 2018 season, according to ESPN.

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Morgan Fox will miss the 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL during organized team activities Thursday, a source confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Fox has spent the last two seasons with the Rams where he has played 20 career games including a start while racking up his 2.5 career sacks in the 2017 campaign. The 23-year-old was in line to play a dependable role along the defensive end, especially after the team decided to move on from Robert Quinn earlier this offseason.

Los Angeles will likely lean on Ethan Westbrooks to fulfill that role while relying more on their other defensive tackles such as Dominque Easley, Tanzel Smart to help provide more stability alongside their All-Pro duo Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh. A couple of their rookies in Sebastian Joseph-Day and Jonathan Franklin-Myers may factor into the equation as well.

The only positive from this situation for the Rams is that has happened quite early in training camp, which should give them plenty of time to absolve any issues in finding a replacement ahead of the 2018 campaign. It may not have been a notable loss to their defensive line, but it does bring attention toward what could be one of the spots on the roster to watch next season that was perceived as being a weak point on the roster.
