The Los Angeles Rams are off to a blazing start out of the gate to the 2018 season being the first team to reach 4-0 record through the first quarter of games played.
Los Angeles was able to keep things heading in the right direction on Thursday night in a 38-31 win over the Minnesota Vikings that saw Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff take center stage with his impressive performance. In fact, Goff's stellar outing put him in a category of his own as he's the first player on three-days rest to post more than 400 passing yards and five touchdowns.

Goff was phenomenal on the night as he was hitting all cylinders throughout the game with his crisp throws and decision making that the Vikings simply had no answer for defensively. He finished completing 26-of-33 passes for a career-high 465 yards and a career-best five touchdown passes. This also pushed him to tie the Rams' single-game record with five touchdown passes that were last matched by Hall of Famer Kurt Warner back during the 1999 season.
The 23-year-old has shown that he has taken yet another step with his development as he has become a more noticeably confident thrower with the ball along with being able to squeeze the ball into tight spots while throwing his receivers open. These are attributes that he has gained with the more experience and reps that he has gotten under center in his career. Goff has had the luxury of work alongside a talented group of wide receivers in Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp along with star running back Todd Gurley, but he has demonstrated that he has become a more lethal quarterback throwing the ball.
There have been detractors that have brought the system quarterback conversation, but it is something that has lost traction as a criticism of his ability as he continues to make impressive throws and plays each passing week this season that would speak otherwise. Nonetheless, the manner in which Goff has played this year has pushed the Rams forward into what could be an extremely promising 2018 season.
