After a heartbreaking loss over five years ago, the Los Angeles Rams finally caught their white whale. The Sean McVay-coached squad earned their first Super Bowl win after besting the Cincinnati Bengals. It's an incredible achievement for the players and the coaching staff, who worked hard to reach this goal.
Some fans, though, are mad at the Rams winning for one reason: Stan Kroenke. The current owner of the team infamously moved the team from St. Louis to their current home in Los Angeles. To this day, it's still one of the most reviled city moves in NFL history. To add some salt in the wound, the Rams' Super Bowl rings have a little diss against their former city. Astute observers will note that only one Lombardi trophy is displayed on the Rams' Super Bowl ring. Generally speaking, teams often indicate how many Super Bowl wins they have by the number of Lombardis on the ring. For example, the Buccaneers' 2021 ring has two trophies to show that they have won two Super Bowls.

After 2019, Tom Brady's Patriots had a whopping six Lombardis on their championship rings.

What's wrong with the Rams' Super Bowl rings, then? Well, if you take a trip down memory lane, you might recall that the Rams have already won one Super Bowl before 2022: Super Bowl XXXIV against the Tennessee Titans. The catch, though, is that the Rams won that ring… while they were situated in St. Louis.
The strained relationship between St. Louis and the current Rams brass could've factored in this decision. Or maybe, it's just a message from Kroenke that this new-era Rams is separate from the St. Louis teams of old. It's not like this is unheard of, either: the Indianapolis Colts' 2006 ring also had one Lombardi despite winning a ring in Baltimore.
Either way, this omission will likely rub salt in a long-standing wound on the St. Louis Rams fanbase.
