The Los Angeles Rams are hoping to once again re-enter the championship mix in 2026 after coming up painfully short in the NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks this year. Matthew Stafford has since won the league MVP award for his efforts on the 2025 campaign and reiterated his desire to come back for at least one more year with Los Angeles.

Stafford is currently entering the second of a two-year deal he signed to stay in Los Angeles back in May of 2025, and recently, head coach Sean McVay got 100% honest on the state of Stafford's contract situation.

“We've had great dialogue … We'll work through all of those things,” said McVay, per Adam Grosbard of the LA Daily News on X, formerly Twitter.

At this point, it's unclear if Stafford will want to continue playing beyond the 2026 season, but his performance this past year made it clear that the veteran and potential future Hall of Famer still has plenty left in the tank.

Ironically enough, heading into the 2025 season, there was considerable doubt as to whether Stafford would even be ready for the start of the campaign, as major injury concerns had flared up during training camp.

However, not only did the then-37 year-old show up, but he managed to produce one of the best seasons of his illustrious career, leading the Rams to having one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, and constantly torching opposing defenses with his combination of arm strength and accuracy.

While the loss against Seattle was certainly a bitter pill to swallow, especially when seeing how easily the Seahawks were able to discard the New England Patriots in the ensuing Super Bowl, Los Angeles still has plenty of reason for optimism heading into the 2026 season, as well as a considerable amount of money to spend in the upcoming free agency period, which will begin on March 11.
