For his standards, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley is having a dreadful season, but in spite of his struggles, he was still named a Pro Bowl alternate, according to Kevin Modesti of The Los Angeles Daily News.

In 13 games this season, Gurley has rushed for 741 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging a meager 3.9 yards per carry. In addition, he has logged 29 catches for 186 yards and a couple of scores.

While Gurley's numbers certainly aren't terrible, they are a far cry from his preceding two seasons.

In 2017, Gurley totaled 1,305 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground, registering 4.7 yards per attempt. He also caught 64 passes for 788 yards and six scores.

Then, last year, the 25-year-old racked up 1,251 yards while reaching the end zone 17 times as a rusher, recording 4.9 yards per tote. As a receiver, he snared 59 balls for 580 yards and four scores.

Gurley not only earned Pro Bowl selections in both seasons, but he also notched First-Team All-Pro honors both times.

However, late in 2018, Gurley suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss the final two games of the regular season. He returned for the Divisional Round of the playoffs and was impressive, but was a virtual non-factor in both the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl.

Many wondered if Gurley's knee issue would become a chronic thing, and while we don't know for sure what the future holds for Gurley's health, he certainly has not looked like himself in 2019.

Overall, Gurley has made three Pro Bowl appearances since entering the NFL in 2015, and should there be an injury or should a player elect to not make the trip this year, Gurley could make his fourth appearance this winter.
