The Los Angeles Rams were hoping that Todd Gurley would be just fine this season after dealing with a serious knee injury last year. He looked good in the offseason, but so far in the regular season has been unable to make the kind of impact that fans had come to know and love from him. Unfortunately, Gurley is dealing with another nagging injury.
Last week, Gurley missed the team's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers due to a quad injury. They are hoping to have him back this week against the Atlanta Falcons.
Assuming he does play, let's take a look at three bold predictions for the superstar running back.
3. He Receives Just 15 Carries
It has become apparent that Sean McVay and the Rams are not going to be giving Gurley the kind of workhorse role that he has had so far in his career. They are worried about his longevity, especially after paying him big money in the contract extension they gave him.
His role will continue being small against the Falcons. Gurley will end up with just 15 carries on the day.
2. Gurley Scores At Least One Touchdown
Next up, the Rams have seemingly tried to get Gurley involved when they are deep in the red zone. He may not be scoring touchdowns at the rate that he was the last two years, but he has found his way into the end zone five times this year. Gurley will add at least one more against the Falcons.
Los Angeles may not have him wrecking through defenses for 100-plus yards, but he can still play a big role. McVay and company will find a way to get him his sixth touchdown of the year.
1. Fantasy Football Players Panic Once Again
When everything is said and done, Gurley is not going to have a very big game. There has been a lot of panic for Fantasy Football players who made Gurley a top pick. That will be the case again this week.
Gurley will score a touchdown, but will only end up with around 50 yards on the ground once again. He will have an impact on the game, but will not ease the minds of anyone who needs him to have a major role.
