On Thursday, wide receiver Stefon Diggs returned to Minnesota Vikings practice after speculation brewed that he may get traded following his inactive status on Wednesday.
Allegedly, Diggs asked for a trade out. On Thursday, he didn't exactly deny those rumors. However, his running mate, Adam Thielen, isn't concerned with Diggs' status with the team.
When asked if the rumors are putting their personal relationship in jeopardy, Thielen responded by saying, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN:
“Absolutely not. Diggs is one of my closest friends and for me, I’m just trying to worry about my job and those are things that are out of my control and I’m going to go back to work and try to help this football team win games, as he is. He was out there today and grinding. Like I said, everybody on this team is worried about Sunday and worrying about putting their best foot on Sunday.”
Though rumors are brewing of Diggs' potential trade, it doesn't appear that will happen anytime soon. Reportedly, one team interested in the star 25-year-old wide-out was told that he would not be traded. It seems as if, for now, that Thielen will have his buddy with him.
For the Vikings, trading Diggs isn't a move they need to do. Though they are cap-strapped and have a quarterback struggling to get him and Thielen the ball, he's also under contract for four more years and is a star of their team.
However, with the trade deadline looming and drama ensuing, anything is possible.
