Sports journalist Albert Breer, who has long rung the death knell for the Patriots, believes that Rob Gronkowski is set to retire after the Super Bowl.

This isn't the first time that Breer — who is best known for his work with Sports Illustrated — has said that Rob Gronkowski will no longer be a part of the Super Bowl winning lineup.

Just before the Patriots won this year's AFC Championship, he said the same thing to SI.

“Gronk looks old, banged up and slow. Edelman’s not the same, getting older and doesn’t have the same explosive quickness right now. [Josh] Gordon has helped them, but he’s a Band-Aid, and he’s not the same guy either. [James] White is the only matchup guy in the pass game they have who is actually in his prime.”

And, at the beginning of last year, Breer said that Rob Gronkowski's retirement was an imminent conclusion, especially given the way he was spending his money.

“I think this is something he’s legitimately thought about. We’ve seen the way that he’s handled his money, and we’ve seen clues over the last few years in how his health has been handled, which is different than how any other Patriots’ health has been handled, as far as the flow of information and where he’s getting surgery. Clearly, it’s something that’s been on his mind for a long, long time.”

So, maybe Breer is crying wolf about Rob Gronkowski yet again. But if he's someone that Tom Brady reads & listens to regularly, it makes sense that he's on the “Everyone Hates The Patriots, Poor Us” press tour.
