Jamal Adams may have made the internet chuckle when he took down Pat Patriot earlier this week, but it’s been nothing but a headache since then. After initially taking down the New England Patriots mascot earlier this week during some Pro Bowl activities, stories began to emerge about how the mascot was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries.
While the mascot was confirmed to have not been hospitalized following the hit, it seems that the mascot may have been at least somewhat injured as a result of the tackle.
Update on #Patriots mascot @PatPatriot following the leaping tackle from #Jets S Jamal Adams: The mascot is still dealing with jaw, neck, and back soreness and was checked for a concussion. As of this morning, he was still planning on being in Atlanta for the Super Bowl.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport (via Pro Football Talk), Pat Patriot is still dealing with some jaw, neck, and back soreness as a result of Adams’ hit. The actual name of the mascot hasn’t been revealed, but he has since been checked for a concussion after the tackle.
After news of the mascot possibly being hurt broke, Adams spoke on the matter, saying that he had no intentions of actually hurting the man inside the costume and that the league was not too happy with him. “My intention was never to hurt him,” Adams said afterward, per Michael DiRocco of ESPN. “It was all about just a joke but I definitely want to check on him and make sure everything is good. At the end of the day we were out here just having fun and it wasn’t nothing intentionally to try to hurt the guy.”
Thankfully for the mascot, all things seem to be good, and he should still be on the sidelines to watch his team play for the Lombardi Trophy. As of this morning, he was still planning on making the trip to Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII.
