Rumors have swirled about the possibility of New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski retiring this offseason, and after the Patriots' Super Bowl win on Sunday night, Gronkowski said he would decide his future in a few weeks.

You have to wonder if how he felt after the game will play a role in his decision.

In the first half of the Super Bowl, Gronkowski took a helmet to the thigh from a Los Angeles Rams defender and walked gingerly off the field, where he received medical attention from the Patriots staff on the sideline.

During the postgame, Gronkowski showed the injury to NBC Sports Boston reporter Tom Curran, revealing a ridiculously swollen and misshapen thigh.

When asked if it was the worst such injury he has had, Gronkowski said this.

“No, it’s about the same as other ones,” he said. “But I can barely walk.”

The 29-year-old hauled in six receptions for 87 yards in the victory, including a humongous catch in the third quarter where he laid out to snare a Tom Brady pass near the goal line, setting Sony Michel up for the game's first touchdown to give New England a lead that it would never relinquish.

Gronkowski also had a big game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game two weeks ago, catching six passes for 79 yards and made a couple of pivotal receptions on the Pats' final two drives.

Of course, that is just a small sliver of how much Gronkowski went through in 2018, as he battled numerous injuries throughout the year and looked like a shell of himself most of the way.
