Though Gronkowski retired in March, could this mean he's ready to make his return to the NFL? Perhaps. Former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins told TMZ Sports that Gronkowski is “going to be back this year.”
Article Continues Below“I would bet money — at this point in time, I’m, like, 97 percent sure he’s going to come back,” said Wiggins. “He loves the limelight, and what better way to keep continue to build the Gronk brand by being out on the field?”
Many have speculated that the 30-year-old Gronkowski would join the WWE after his NFL career. But pro wrestler Mojo Rawley shot down that train of thought (at least for right now).
“He just wrapped up a decade-long career breaking records,” Rawley said, via CBS Baltimore. “For every record, he had he probably had as many injuries or surgeries putting his body on the line for the team and the fans. Right now he’s doing nothing. He’s going to lay low and stay off the television a little bit and heal up. He’ll reflect and make that next move and make that decision carefully.
But in the future, we have talked about it extensively. Wrestling is something that he both loves watching, and that little bit of taste he had in the ring with me at WrestleMania a couple years ago with me got him all fired up. So, he’s ready to do something at some point.”
Maybe he's XFL bound?
Probably not, considering the massive pay-gap between leagues and that the Patriots hold his rights.
