New England Patriots first-year running back Sony Michel achieved a franchise milestone during the Patriots' Divisional Round matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, becoming just the second New England rookie to have a touchdown in the playoffs:

Michel had a very impressive rookie campaign, finishing with 931 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He logged four 100-yard games on the year, with his best game coming in a Week 16 win over the Buffalo Bills when he carried the ball 18 times for 116 yards and a touchdown.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was selected in the first round (31st pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in the spring.

Michel had a four-year collegiate career, with his best season coming during his senior campaign when he racked up 1,227 yards and 16 touchdowns while registering 7.9 yards per attempt.

He put together two 1,000-yard seasons during his tenure at Georgia, also rushing for 1,136 yards and eight scores during his sophomore year.

The Patriots won 11 games this season and captured their 10th straight AFC East division title. They also locked up a first-round bye.

However, due to the topsy-turvy nature of their 2018 campaign, this was widely considered to be one of the weaker Pats teams of the last decade, with many questioning just how much Tom Brady had left in the tank after a rather inconsistent season.

The winner of the Patriots-Chargers game will move on to the AFC Championship Game to battle the Kansas City Chiefs next weekend.
