The New York Giants finally showed signs of life on offense with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback in Week 3. New York will take its newfound momentum into Week 4 to face the Washington Redskins.
Last week, Pat Shurmur decided to bench Eli Manning in favor of the Giants rookie quarterback. As a result, Jones led a valiant comeback in the game to secure New York's first win of the season over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 32-31.
It was a rushing touchdown from Jones that gave the Giants the lead with one-minute and 16 seconds remaining. Altogether, the rookie out of Duke threw for 353 yards and had four total touchdowns last Sunday.
As elated as the team was with the win, there was some concern lingering in the locker room with Saquon Barkley being on crutches for the entire second half of the game. Barkley was diagnosed with an ankle sprain that will keep him out for over a month.
Even with the team losing their star running back for an extended period of time, they are confident in Wayne Gallman.
On the other hand, the Redskins are still searching for their first win as Jay Gruden seems to be coaching for his job in Week 4. Nevertheless, here are three bold predictions for the Giants in Week 4 against the Redskins.
3. Giants Defense Will Allow Less Than 200 Passing Yards
The Giants offense seems to have hit a new stride with Jones under center but New York's defense has been abysmal to start the season. In just about every defensive category, the Giants are a bottom-five defense in the NFL.
When watching the Giants, their most glaring weakness on defense is their pass defense. There is a lack of a pass rush and the secondary doesn't have anyone beside Janoris Jenkins that they can rely upon. Due to that, New York has allowed an inexcusable 332.3 passing yards per game this season (worst in NFL).
Despite their inability to stop the pass, the Giants secondary will hold Case Keenum to under 200 yards on Sunday. If that does occur, it's hard to see Dwayne Haskins remain on the bench in Week 5.
Article Continues Below2. Gallman Will Rush for Over 100 Yards
Even with Barkley being sidelined with an injury, the Giants still want to establish their running game. Therefore, expect to see a heavy dose of Wayne Gallman in Week 4 versus New York's NFC East foe.
Gallman was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has started in two games in his career. In his three seasons in the NFL, the Clemson product's career-high in rushing yards in a game is 89.
Moreover, the game he ran for 89 yards in a game came against the Redskins in 2017. This time around, Gallman is going to gash Washington's defense for 100 yards in his third career start.
1. Giants Will Win the Game 38-20
Entering Sunday, the Giants currently stand as three-point favorites to take down the Redskins in Week 4. Jones will suit up in his first game at MetLife Stadium and the crowd in New York is going to be on their feet all game.
The Giants have a few offensive weapons to make things difficult on the Redskins with Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. As for Washington, their offense has looked stagnant recently with Keenum leading the way.
With the offense feeding off of the energy of the crowd, the Giants are going to win this game in convincing fashion. New York will extend their winning streak to two by blowing out the Redskins 38-20 on Sunday.
