The New York Giants are insisting that they are not going to trade wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., but the rumors just won't go away.
The latest report is that people around the NFL do believe there is a chance Beckham gets dealt, and if that does end up occurring, the San Francisco 49ers may be the most likely destination, according to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.
Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has twice said this offseason that New York did not sign Beckham to a $95 million contract extension last August to trade him, but the consensus around the league seems to be that the Giants are open to moving him for a good enough offer.
And it sounds like the 49ers could be the front-runner to present the Giants with an offer that could be very appealing to the franchise.
Beckham is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he missed the final four games due to a quad injury. In the 12 games in which he did play, Beckham hauled in 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.
The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by New York in the first round (12th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
He went on to have a spectacular rookie season, catching 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Then, the following year, Beckham was even better, snaring 96 balls for 1,450 yards and 13 scores, making another trip to Honolulu in the process.
Beckham proceeded to earn his third straight Pro Bowl selection in 2016, racking up 101 receptions for 1,367 yards while reaching the end zone 10 times.
However, over the last two years, the New Orleans native has played in just 16 games total due to injuries.
