Like most teams, the New York Giants have had some bad free-agent acquisitions, but they have also had some great acquisitions that have changed their franchise forever.
The Giants have won four Super Bowl titles and a big reason why has been because of important free-agent signings.
Let's break down the five best free-agent signings in Giants history.
5. Kevin Boothe (Offensive Line)
Kevin Boothe is one of those players who played a key role in the two of the Giants Super Bowl victories. Boothe was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders but was released before the 2007 season. The Giants claimed him, and the rest was history.
Early in his time with the Giants, he was mostly a reserve that could be moved all over the line. Later during his time with the Giants, he became a starter at guard and at center. The Giants won the 2012 Super Bowl, with Boothe being an anchor on the offensive line.
4. Kerry Collins (Quarterback)
The Giants offered a second chance to quarterback Kerry Collins. Collins was drafted fifth overall in the 1995 NFL Draft, but he was later released after dealing with a drinking problem.
The Giants signed Collins in 1999, and during the second half of the year, he took over as the starter. Collins played in the Big Apple for five years. In Collins's first full season as a starter, he led the Giants to a Super Bowl, a game they ended up losing 34-7 to the Baltimore Ravens.
From 2000-2002, Collins didn't miss a game, which allowed the Giants to really build a team around him. In five years, Collins threw for 16,875 yards and 81 touchdowns. Collins left the Giants after the 2003 season to go back to his former team, the Oakland Raiders. He also played for Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts.
3. Antonio Pierce (Linebacker)
The Giants brought in middle linebacker Antonio Pierce in 2005 to be a game-changer on defense. After playing four years for the Washington Redskins, Pierce agreed to a six-year, $26 million deal in New York. Pierce was a captain of the defense, but he let his play do most of the talking.
Pierce's best season with the Giants was in 2007, and it was no fluke that was a year the team was able to win Super Bowl XLII. Pierce's tackle in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers on a screen pass was one of the biggest plays in team history.

Antrel Rolle signed a five year, $37 million deal with the Giants before the 2010 season. Rolle played all five seasons of that contract and never missed a game.
Much like Pierce, Rolle was a great leader for the secondary. In 2013, Rolle had six interceptions, which were the most by any safety in the league. Rolle played a big role in one of the Giants' Super Bowl victories, and that's what he will always be remembered for.
After the 2014 season, Rolle left for the Chicago Bears but only played seven games before he hung up the cleats and retired.
1. Plaxico Burress (Wide receiver)
Was there really any question about who was going to be number one on this list? Plaxico Burress signed with the Giants before the 2005 season and was a game-changer for the team.
Burress was Eli Manning's favorite target during his time on the team. Burress's best season with the team was in 2005 was when he caught 76 passes for 1,214 yards and seven touchdowns.
His time with the Giants didn't end well after he shot himself in the leg, but that can't take away from what he was able to do in his time with the G-Men.
After serving his two-year suspension, he played 13 games with the New York Jets and three games with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
