The New York Giants started off the year 0-2 before making the switch at quarterback. They benched veteran legend Eli Manning and placed rookie Daniel Jones at the starting position.
Since giving Jones the keys to castle, New York is 2-2. They clearly still have some issues to workout, but things have definitely been better overall. It's hard not to give Jones a good amount of credit for the turnaround either.
He's put up some solid numbers at times. However, he's also struggled mightily at others.
In fact, Jones has been a turnover machine. So far, Jones has five touchdown pass and two rushing touchdowns. That's pretty respectable. That being said, he also has six interceptions and three fumbles.
So what's his fantasy outlook for New York's Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals?
With the turnovers coming at a high rate, Jones is a fantasy scare. If you're starting him in a league that punishes turnovers, you need him to put in work to negate them.
Of course, this is a good week for that – maybe.
New York is going up against the Cardinals, a team that hasn't been good defensively this year.
They have a few things going for them though. First of all, they have a great pass rush duo. Terrell Suggs and Chandler Jones have been awesome this year. They've combined for 8.5 sacks and six forced fumbles all by themselves.
That's an issue for Jones. The Giants don't have a miserable offensive line, but it's not winning any awards either. Due to that, you can expect the Cardinals to get some pressure.
Article Continues BelowWith those two being so good at forcing fumbles, you have to worry even more. Jones has pretty well documented turnover issues.
Then there's the secondary. Arizona's been bad against the pass this year. But they are getting superstar cornerback Patrick Peterson back this week. Not only is he one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, he's clearly on a mission to prove himself.
The good news for Jones is that he has superstar running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Evan Engram back.
This gives Jones some much needed help. Barkley will take a lot of pressure off and force the defense to focus on him. He's also liable to make a few receptions in the backfield and take them the distance. You really never know how he'll amaze you next.
This means Jones has his biggest (and possibly best) target back in Engram, while giving him an absolutely elite dump off man in Barkley.
The bottom line is this is a matchup between two teams with struggling defenses. Jones is having turnover problems and facing a team that might be able to capitalize on that with forced fumbles and the return of Peterson.
However, they'll still have their struggles and Jones should have some big plays. Still though, stay away from him if you can. Unless you're in Bye Week hell or dealing with that many injuries, Jones should be on your bench.
