In Week 2 of the NFL preseason, superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants went down with an ankle injury against the Cleveland Browns. The severity of the injury was initially under center, but now it appears he could be ready for the season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Giants head coach Bob McAdoo recently spoke about the status of his star wideout moving forward, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

Losing Beckham for the first game or two of the regular season could prove costly for the Giants. The 24-year-old receiver is the team's most lethal offensive weapon and Eli Manning's favorite target in the passing game.

Fortunately, the Giants were able to bolster the receiving corps during the NFL offseason. New York signed veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall to help shoulder the load and take some pressure off of Beckham while providing another target downfield for Manning.

If Beckham is ruled out of Week 1 against the division rival Cowboys, Marshall will likely get a lot more passes thrown his way even though he's had an injury issue of his own. Marshall returned to practice on Monday after dealing with a shoulder injury.

Last season, Beckham had another solid year with a career-high 101 receptions, 1,367 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.
