The New York Giants added another weapon to the offense for Daniel Jones, signing tight end Kyle Rudolph to a two-year deal.

It's a steep price, with the deal totaling out at $16 million, with Rudolph coming off a season in which he had only 28 catches for 334 yards and one touchdown in 12 games started.

Rudolph and the Vikings couldn't come to an agreement earlier this offseason and decided to part ways. With the Vikings wanting to give an advanced role to Irv Smith Jr., the writing was somewhat on the wall for Rudolph in Minnesota. Both sides agreed it was time to move on.

Despite the hefty price, it is a welcoming presence to the Giants' offense as they continue to try and put pieces around Daniel Jones. It isn't the Kenny Golladay type of splash fans were hoping for, but that could still be on the table for New York. And perhaps a move for Golladay is closer than we think.

Rudolph will be 31 years old in 2021 and at times has looked older than that. Still productive and a willing blocker, it's a good move for New York. Given the price though, it would be interesting to know what exactly the market was for Rudolph.

It's a tight end room that has Evan Engram and it's an offense that already added speedster John Ross III earlier in free agency.

The two additions in Rudolph and Ross are both on short deals. It's one year for Ross, two for Rudolph which makes you wonder if the Giants believe they are closer to competing than what meets the eye.

They're coming off a 6-10 season that miraculously was only a game behind the division winner, the Washington Football Team, who went 7-9.

The more pieces and the more structure around Daniel Jones the better off he will be. Add Rudolph to the Giants depth chart with possibly more moves to come.
