New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones almost came up with the play of the game on Thursday night after breaking free of Philadelphia Eagles defenders on a long run that seemed destined for the end zone. Unfortunately for him, what was supposed to be a highlight-reel play quickly turned into a blooper, as he fell down on the 8-yard line.
Needless to say, it wasn't Jones' proudest moment. He spoke out about the play in question after the game and tried to clarify exactly what went down (pun intended):
“I was just trying to run faster than I was running and got caught up,” Jones said, via Newsday.
Oh no, Daniel Jones 🤣🤣

Jones may have offered an explanation, but it still does not take away from the fact that he simply just fell down. The good news for him is that despite his laughable gaffe, the Giants were still able to score a touchdown on the same possession. The embarrassed QB admitted he was relieved about the score, because it took him off the hook.
Jones completed 20-of-30 passes against the Eagles, which was good for 187 yards. He also had two touchdowns, an interception, and a lost fumble at the end of the game to secure a 22-21 loss.
It was certainly an unfortunate night for Jones and the Giants, who held a 21-10 lead in the fourth quarter but couldn't hold on. New York is now just 1-6 on the season and going nowhere fast.
