Last year was about as tough as they come for veteran quarterback Eli Manning of the New York Giants. The two-time Super Bowl champion lost his starting job for the first time in his career only to get back after head coach Ben McAdoo was fired during the 2017 campaign.

However, there's a lot of optimism in New York after what has been a very good offseason for the storied franchise. Manning is back under center without the added pressure of having to compete for his job and he's highly confident in the team's ability to get back into the title-contending conversation, via Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com.

“Obviously it has been an unbelievable run, but I want to continue doing it. It's not over,” Manning told NFL Network, according to Kim Jones. “I know that … I'm excited for this upcoming year and really prove that I can still play at a high level. We can win games. We can win championships.”

As if losing his job as the team's starter wasn't hard enough on the longtime face of the franchise, the Giants struggled throughout the entire 2017 NFL season. New York finished with an ugly three-win record which had the team more focused on the 2018 NFL Draft than thinking about their next Super Bowl title.

However, the arrival of rookie running back Saquon Barkley and the return of superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has some believing this team could be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC once again. Manning is obviously confident and he may have every reason to be with new head coach Pat Shurmur at the helm and ready to continue with Manning leading the way at quarterback.
