The New York Giants underwent some major changes this NFL offseason. However, they made it clear that quarterback Eli Manning will be under center until for the time being.

Manning has essentially been granted a clean slate to prove himself after a tumultuous 2017 campaign. In a lot of ways, it is similar to when his brother and NFL legend Peyton Manning finished his second act with the Denver Broncos.

According to Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com, Manning is hoping to emulate his brother's late success.

“You see that there doesn’t have to be a drop-off in play-making ability and running an offense and winning football games,” Manning said. “You have to work extremely hard, but great things can happen.”

Manning has good reason to be optimistic about a bounce-back year. Quarterbacks like his brother and New England Patriots' star Tom Brady have managed to thwart Father Time late in their careers. There is a solid chance he can do the same considering his championship pedigree.

There were a number of issues that factored into Manning's down year. Of course, it began with the decimation of his entire starting receiving corps within the first half of the year due to injury. It was then followed up by lackluster coaching and dwindling team chemistry in the locker room. That said, there were very few players on last year's Giants team that enjoyed a solid season.

Fortunately, there is a newfound sense of optimism surrounding the Giants this time around. It will be Manning's job to serve as the stabilizing factor for this revamped team.
