New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning added some new training to his offseason regimen, working with a private pitching coach to try and improve. He worked this offseason with Mickey Brueckner after he got a recommendation from former MLB pitcher Al Leiter.
Manning talked about working with Brueckner and said that he feels after working with him his arm is stronger heading into this season.
“I feel like it’s paid off,” Manning said, via Art Stapleton of northjersey.com. “I’m throwing the ball well, and arm is staying strong, and I’m not losing anything. In training camp, sometimes you’d have four practices in a row, and you’re not used to that; you can see your arm getting tired. But still feeling strong.”
Last year during the season Manning looked like he was losing a bit of his arm strength and it really affected his play. If he can get his arm strength back from earlier in his career, maybe he can have a strong season and there weren't be rumblings how the team needs to turn to Daniel Jones.
Article Continues BelowPat Shurmer is one guy who has taken notice of Manning's arm strength and thinks he has gotten better this offseason.
“I think he’s really throwing the ball well,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. “When he came back for OTAs, we saw it. Some of it was physical, some of it was how he trained. You ask the quarterbacks to get better every day and train and do all of the right things, and along the way, they sort of find their way. Eli’s done that every year.”
This all needs to transition to the regular season but at least Manning has been doing the right things this offseason.
