Engram’s injury is a bit of a downer for what’s supposed to be a fun week for the Giants after the team notched its first win of the season by defeating the Houston Texans on the road last Sunday, 27-22. Having said that, the Giants can look at the latest update on Engram’s ailment and be positive about it, considering that it’s not something that’s not serious enough to keep the former first-round pick sidelined for multiple weeks.
Evan Engram sustained the injury in the first half of the Houston game. Before his exit from the contest, he caught the only target he saw and converted it into a 19-yard reception.
So far this season, Engram has 104 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions.
In the event that Engram gets ultimately ruled out for the Saints game, New York will likely turn to Rhett Ellison as its temporary starting tight end. Wilson had 39 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches against the Texans last week.
