In the last few days, there has been a progressive shift in the New York Giants thinking regarding Odell Beckham Jr.'s future with the franchise. He has seemingly become shifted toward being on shaky ground with the possibility of a trade entering the picture as an outcome this offseason.

Throughout this process, the Giants have been quite indirect with their comments when discussing Beckham Jr. in any manner. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, general manager Dave Gettleman has chosen to avoid talking about the 25-year-old altogether.

The decision to not talk about the Pro Bowl wide receiver at this point speaks quite clearly that his future with the team in question. This was only made evident after co-owner John Mara voiced that he had grown tired of speaking about Beckham Jr.'s behavior coupled up with the chatter that the team is willing to listen to offers this offseason.

The constant dealings with his behavior both on and off the field have reached a breaking point for the franchise with these issues possibly outweighing his performances. There also may be some apprehension toward committing to the lucrative long-term contract that Beckham Jr. is eyeing that in itself become a distraction with him possibly holding out if a new extension isn't in place.

He certainly has the talent that would warrant him being in line to be paid as possibly the highest-paid player at his position. However, these other constant problems with his behavior have likely made that an unlikely solution at this point. This alone could bring much life to trade talks heating up for Beckham Jr. beyond just the Los Angeles Rams being interested in acquiring him.

At this point, the Giants have control of deciding whether Beckham Jr. is worth keeping aboard or moving on from him. In order words, his fate in New York lies directly on their shoulders.
