As the rumors have surrounded the New York Giants and Jaxson Dart, the team has finally made the move to start the rookie in Week 4 after an 0-3 start. After another dud from Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, head coach Brian Daboll and the coaching staff have come to the decision to start Dart, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
New York was raining with boos after another lackluster offensive performance in the 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday night, calling for Dart, as they've now got their wish.
“A QB change: Giants are planning to start rookie Jaxson Dart on Sunday vs. the Chargers, sources told ESPN,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Wilson's three games with the team thus far have been inconsistent, as, besides throwing for 450 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, the opener and especially the last outing against Kansas City were lackluster. On Sunday night, Wilson threw for 260 yards and two interceptions, which led to Daboll saying they are “evaluating everything” regarding a quarterback decision.
“We’re working through all personnel decisions. We’ll do that in the next few days,” Daboll said Sunday, via SNY. “I’d say we’re evaluating everything.”

There was speculation that the Giants would start Jaxson Dart in Week 4

So far, the Giants rollercoaster with Wilson has come to an end for now, with some likely surprised it came this early, but there was no doubt another group that expected the news. One who expected it was NFL insider Peter Schrager, who was on ESPN Monday, saying that with how much Dart has been hyped by the team, he “would not be shocked” if the rookie started in week 4.
“Yeah, if this was definitely going to be Russell Wilson, Brian Daboll would have started his press conference today and said, ‘No, Russell's still our guy. We're playing the Chargers on Sunday, and we're going to keep Jaxson in the game plan.' Truth of the matter is, when Jackson Dart came in the building last night and came into the game, it was electric,” Schrager said.
“When Russell Wilson was in there, you heard the boo birds,” Schrager continued. “The schedule's brutal. We know that there's never going to be a good time,” Schrager continued. “I would not be shocked if he's under center Sunday against the charge.”
