There were some late rumors swirling around on Tuesday that Landon Collins could be traded from the New York Giants, but with the trade deadline passed now and Collins still on the team he is happy.
Collins is only 24 and becoming one of the best defenders on the team but he is also a free agent after this season and there hasn't been any talk of a long-term extension so it made sense for the team to look at offers.
It was reported that the Giants were looking for a second round pick for Collins and although there was interest in him it's unclear if anyone offered that for his services.
Article Continues BelowCollins doesn't know if his future is going to be in New York, but he is happy to be here at least through the end of the year.
“Honestly it's always been my dream to be one of those guys like LT, Michael Strahan, those guys that finish their years on one team,” Collins said on The Michael Kay Show via SNY. “It's a dream of mine to do that. If I can, it's a blessing in my eyes.”
The Giants right now are slated to have $31 million in cap space but they will probably create more by cutting some guys with big caps hit. If the Giants were to franchise tag Collins it would only cost $12 million so if they weren't able to come to an agreement on a long-term extension putting the franchise tag on him could make some sense.
