New York Giants safety Landon Collins was one of the few bright spots for the team this year, but after injuring his shoulder against the Chicago Bears, it appears his season is over.
I'm told #Giants S Landon Collins (shoulder) is going to IR. He will need surgery. The procedure will likely be next week, per source.

The injury caused him to miss 11 of 82 snaps against the Bears. After the game, he told the media the shoulder was sore and at that time he didn't know how bad the injury was.
“It depends on what the injury is,” Collins said via The New York Post. “A shoulder injury calls for tackling. So it’s more of tackling and getting guys down, trying to push through and run. Last year I had an ankle injury, so it’s more of not twisting it or planting the wrong way. It has its ups and downs. It depends on how you feel during the game or after.”
Collins is the team leader in tackles, and although sometimes he struggles in coverage, he is very good at stopping the run. Losing their starting safety is a huge blow to the Giants secondary. Curtis Riley, who is the starting free safety, has struggled this year, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to not having Collins beside him on the backend. Rookie Sean Chandler will get some valuable playing time without Collins, but there will also probably be some growing pains there.
Collins is an unrestricted free agent this year, so there is a chance that if he walks, last Sunday was his last appearance for the G-Men.
